‘Who does this?’
The night Rip went missing, Aman posted on Facebook about his disappearance. Quickly, family, friends and strangers shared the post, hoping someone would recognize the dog.
The call came sooner than Aman expected. Less than 24 hours later, Aman heard from a woman who said she had the dog.
“Hi, I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I think it’s him,” Aman recalled the woman saying. “We rescued him in Pennsville, New Jersey, and this is gonna sound crazy, but I work in Delaware and a friend showed me your social media post.”
After sending photos of the dog, Aman confirmed it was Rip. Then, she inquired as to how the puppy got to another state, 20 miles away.

Although there may be fewer attendees amid a second year of COVID-19, Delaware summer camps prepare for an active and safe season.
As he looks forward to the summer of 2021, Walt Lafontaine is one happy camper.
Last spring, he had to make the wrenching decision not to open Camp Arrowhead the largely residential summer camp he runs on the western shore of Rehoboth Bay for the COVID-19–haunted summer of 2020. This year, he was quick to announce the happy news to worried parents that Arrowhead would indeed be open, albeit on a reduced scale, this upcoming summer. Spots were filled in fewer than three days.
Rhoda Friedman passes away at 88
Rhoda Friedman, the artist responsible for painting Milford’s fire hydrants during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration, passed away on Jan. 4, 2021 at the age of 88. Friedman painted six fire hydrants on her own as a way to celebrate the 200
th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
“At 88, our mother lived a full life,” her daughter, Jessica, said. “She was always eager for the next adventure. Her warm smile was contagious. She enjoyed sharing and being with others. Mom had a love for the arts and being creative. She enjoyed museums, theatre, dance and music, especially an orchestra. She played piano and loved to sing. The past years we have shared singing the golden oldies as I played my ukulele.”
