ATCEMS, AFD, first responders receive first round of COVID-19 vaccine

AUSTIN, Texas - Some area paramedics and EMTs in the Austin area are receiving their COVID-19 vaccines even sooner than expected thanks to a partnership with the University of Texas at Austin.
As part of the 1A vaccine distribution group as designated by DSHS, ATCEMS expected shipments of vaccinations for their front line EMTs and Paramedics to arrive in late December, with the goal of rolling out the vaccine to their personnel before the year’s end. (City of Austin/Travis County)
The COVID-19 vaccination operation currently underway at UT Health Austin is part of a broad collaboration across UT Austin that also includes the School of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, University Health Services and the Office of Campus Safety, according to the city of Austin and Travis County. Morning rain and scattered thunderstorms on Saturday brought significant rain to the Austin area for the first time in weeks.
By midafternoon, precipitation totals at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport had reached 1.62 inches. That broke the record for Dec. 19 of 1.24 inches set in 2014, according to KVUE meteorologist Shane Hinton.
The Lower Colorado River Authority reported 1.79 inches at Wilbarger Creek near Elgin. West of Austin, accumulations were smaller, mostly under an inch.

Commercial real estate company JLL Capital Markets announced on December 17 that it had been tapped to market a 193-acre development site at State Highway 45 North and North MoPac Expressway. This parcel with about two-thirds the acreage of the Domain complex is part of the roughly 7,000-acre Robinson Ranch, one of the largest privately owned chunks of undeveloped land in Central Texas. By comparison, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport covers about 4,200 acres.
