Williamson County commissioners on Tuesday approved an extra $300,000 in spending to cover the cost of responding to last week’s winter storm.
Julie Kiley, the first assistant county auditor, said the majority of the money would cover efforts to get water to residents with no potable source and no service at all. The authorization will also cover the cost of de-icing roads and bridges as well as a $25,000 deductible for the insurance the county has on its buildings.
Facilities that took the worst of the storm included the Central Texas Treatment Center in Granger, which sustained major water damage, and the county’s Expo Center in Taylor, where a breezeway roof collapsed under a slab of snow.
