China has warned Bangladesh against joining the US-led QUAD alliance, saying that Dhaka s participation in the anti-Beijing club would result in substantial damage to bilateral relations.
The unusual warning from Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming came weeks after visiting Chinese Defence Minister Gen. Wei Fenghe emphasised to Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid that Beijing and Dhaka should make joint efforts against powers from outside the region establishing a military alliance in South Asia and practising hegemonism .

NEW DELHI: Bangladesh has reacted strongly to Chinese warning over Dhaka s possible participation in the US-led Quad alliance. We re an independent and sovereign state. We decide our foreign policy. But yes, any country can uphold its position, Bangladesh foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said when asked about the Chinese warning, according to news agency PTI.

Amid several countries coming in support of India in this dire time, the neighbouring country of Bhutan has come in support amid COVID-19 crisis. On Tuesday, the PMO stated that a telephonic conversation took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bhutanese counterpart, Lotay Tshering and the latter has shown solidarity as India fights the virus battle. Even though Bhutan is dependent on India for resources, the country has assured assistance in this time of need.

The 2021 federal budget includes a suite of measures designed to address workplace shortages, boost skills levels and get more people back into work.
As foreshadowed in pre-budget reports, the government is extending the JobTrainer fund, which provides access to affordable training courses for young people.
The budget provides for an additional $506.3 million over two years, to be matched by contributions from the states and territories.
The government expects the extension to provide approximately 163,000 extra low-fee and free training places, including 33,800 places in aged care and 10,000 places in digital skills courses.
