Firefighters have been praised for driving ambulances, training ambulance drivers, helping vulnerable people and face fitting of masks to NHS front line staff during the pandemic.
Chief Fire Officer, Chris Strickland was awarded the Queen s Fire Service Medal in the New Year Honours List.
Chris said: I am truly honoured to be receiving this award from Her Majesty. I never thought when I began my career that I would be recognised in this way.
SEVEN people smugglers have been jailed for a total of more than 92 years in prison after the tragic deaths of 39 Vietnamese nationals in October 2019. The men appeared at the Old Bailey in front of his Hon. Mr Justice Sweeney earlier today and have received a total of 92 years and 10 months imprisonment between them. The men had worked together to smuggle people illegally into the UK, with some receiving astonishingly high payment for their services, across three dates in October 2019. Chief Constable of Essex Police, Ben-Julian Harrington, acknowledged that the result upheld the promise he had made to the families more than a year ago.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has been praised by inspectors for its coronavirus response.

The way firefighters in Norfolk responded to the coronavirus pandemic, which has included them driving ambulances, has been praised by inspectors.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was visited by Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services in October, as part of a national inspection programme.
And the report praised the way the Norfolk County Council-run service, had stepped up to the plate as coronavirus spread.
Inspector Zoe Wilkinson, said: We were impressed with how the service adapted and responded to the pandemic effectively and how it put the health and wellbeing of its people at the forefront of decision making.
