MADISON Voters approved an $88.4 million budget Tuesday night, agreeing to increases in both town and education spending, which resulted in the Board of Finance voting Wednesday to increase property taxes.
The total spending plan includes a more than 2 percent increase over current levels, or about $1.8 million in fiscal year 2021, according to budget documents posted to the town’s website.
Spending increased more on the town side of the budget 3.7 percent (or $1 million) as officials sought more money to fully reopen the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library, and pay for salary increases for police and paramedics.
