Affidavit: Man confesses to murdering Rebekah Gould

PHOTO: William Alma Miller The probable cause affidavit for William Alma Miller reports that the Oregon resident confessed to law enforcement that he murdered Rebekah Gould. Miller was arrested in Oregon on Nov. 7, 2020, in connection with the 16-year-old murder. On Wednesday, Izard County Circuit Court Judge Tim Weaver unsealed Miller’s affidavit, shining a little more light on the investigation into the Twin Lakes Area’s most well-known unsolved murder. Rebekah Gould was last seen alive the morning of Sept. 20, 2004, in Melbourne. She had just dropped a friend off at work before stopping at a local convenience store. According to reports, the 22-year-old had gone that weekend to visit friends in Guion, a small town south of Melbourne on the White River, and later failed to return to her junior college in Fayetteville.

Couple s Valentine s Day leads to arrest after report of domestic violence

Photo: Joseph Copes A report of a Valentine’s Day domestic violence incident has led to the arrest of a Baxter County man, 45-year-old Joseph Copes of Mountain Home. Izard County Chief Deputy Charley Melton says on the morning of Feb. 14 law enforcement responded to the incident at an address on Corinth Road. Upon arrival, a deputy observed several spots of dried blood on the stones on the walkway and steps of the porch to the house. While talking with individuals inside the residence, the deputy learned Copes had been staying with his girlfriend in a small building on the property.
