No Charges Against Officer In Bar Brawl: SIU

(Staff Photo) The province’s civilian police watchdog has determined that no charges are warranted against a Thunder Bay police officer in a bar brawl. Special Investigations Unit Director Joseph Martino says they looked into the actions of the uniformed officials on the night of October 28th, 2020. In his report, Martino said the suspect officer arrested a complainant lawfully and the officer in question as well as the witness officer were doing little more than defend themselves when attacked by an unruly crowd. The incident happened just before 11:00 that night at a south side bar.

Non-Emergency Surgeries Now On Hold

The provincial government has ordered all hospitals to immediately put off procedures as hospitals keep filling up with more COVID-19 cases in this 3rd wave.  In particular, virus variants are adding record number of patients to intensive care units. The order came from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Williams, on Tuesday, which also includes allowing hospitals to transfer patients without their consent. Case Count Creeping Up To 60

Another person has lost their life in the Thunder Bay district to COVID-19. Health officials report the 62nd death since the start of the pandemic to go along with eleven new cases Thursday and three more cases deemed as resolved.
