Hospital Chosen As Pfizer Vaccine Site

Staff photo The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is chosen as a site for the distribution of the Pfizer vaccine. “Making the vaccine available to the people of our community is our focus and priority,” says Dr. Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, President & CEO of the Hospital. The province has unveiled the priority populations that’ll be first in line to receive the shot. The President and CEO went onto say, “Although the situation is evolving, we are excited to begin the process of vaccination as soon as possible. Various hospitals across Ontario will begin to receive vaccine in the coming weeks, and we are working to ensure logistics, timing, assessment and administration is coordinated and seamless. This historic initiative requires extensive coordination and partnership, and we look forward to moving ahead.”

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Bruno Vincent Piscitelli, on Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his 2 girls by his side. He was only 57. Bruno was born and raised in Thunder Bay. His two great loves in life were his family and living in Northwestern Ontario, particularly hunting, fishing, boating and camping. You could see his pleasure every time he went for a ride on his ATV through the forest trails. Bruno took every opportunity to get out and enjoy the great Northwestern Ontario wilderness. He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Anna Piscitelli, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Italy and Canada.  He is survived by his daughters Hayley Hamilton (Justin) and Chelsea Hamilton (granddaughter Mercedes); brother Mario Piscitelli (Lil) and family; sister (Lee) Leonilda Alberts (Jack); nephew Dan Alberts (Dylan) and brother Carmine Piscitelli. Getty Images THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre will distribute Pfizer-BioNTech s COVID-19 vaccine when it arrives in Thunder Bay. The hospital on Tuesday announced the collaboration. Making the vaccine available to the people of our community is our focus and priority,” said Dr. Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, hospital president and CEO. “Priority populations to receive the vaccine have been announced by the province and the Hospital will follow provincial direction in the distribution and implementation plan.“ Crocker-Ellacott said they’re still working on a timeline. Ontario’s first vaccinations were given on Monday in southern Ontario.
