Health Unit Announces Four New Cases

Kenora, ON, Canada / 89.5 The Lake Apr 7, 2021 11:43 AM On Wednesday morning the Northwestern Health Unit announced that they are reporting four new cases of COVID-19 within their catchment area. Three of the new cases are in the Sioux Lookout health hub with the other coming from the Kenora area. As is the procedure, follow-up is now underway with the cases as well as their close contacts. If you are a known close contact of a confirmed case, the NWHU says they will contact you directly. According to the regional health authority, there are currently 43 active cases and three hospitalizations due to the novel coronavirus.

On Wednesday, Premier Doug Ford declared the province’s third state of emergency since the start of the pandemic and effective Thursday, April 8 at 12:01 a.m., Ontario will be under a stay-at-home order for at least four weeks. “The reality is, despite everything we have done so far, the COVID-19 situation in Ontario is getting worse as these new variants continue to spread,” Ford said.
