Officials with Shelter House are working to enhance safety measures after a positive COVID-19 case.
In a release Thursday, staff and clients were exposed last week which has forced those at the south side shelter to work alongside the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and make testing more available, provide access to isolation spaces and ensuring all public health guidelines are followed.
“The Staff at Shelter House are working hard, they are committed to safety for our clients and for their families, we will continue to work with our partners to provide opportunities for safe shelter within our facility and through the shelter care system in Thunder Bay,” Executive Director Michelle Jordan said in a release.

A double-digit increase in new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District is being reported for the fourth time in the past five days.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced 12 new positive tests on Friday.
Ten of those cases are located within Thunder Bay and the surrounding area while the other two are in district communities.

THUNDER BAY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District fell to 118 Friday, its lowest level in over two weeks.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced 12 new cases Friday morning, while another 28 were declared resolved.
Five of the new cases were a result of close contact with a previously identified cases, three were associated with an outbreak at the district jail, and two with travel outside the region. One cases had no known exposure category, while another was listed as pending.
COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a northside retirement home. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports "one staff member" at the Chartwell H.
