THUNDER BAY - There is only one new case of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District on Wednesday and the number of active cases continues to decline.
The single new case is from Thunder Bay and surrounding areas and it is listed as no known exposure.
With two more previous cases now considered resolved, the number of active cases has fallen to 24.
There were no new hospitalizations and according to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, there are two district residents in hospital and none in the intensive care unit.
There were also no new variants of concern identified.
The total number of cases in the Thunder Bay District now sits at 3,168.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is still managing to keep COVID-19 cases low.
Health officials report Wednesday one new case, and with the two latest resolved ones, the current active count stands at 24.
The health unit adds it doesn’t know yet how the individual case was contracted.
Meanwhile the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre indicated that two of the four patients that are being treated for coronavirus are in the Intensive Care Unit.
In Ontario, 19 more deaths along with 1,588 cases.

One new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the Thunder Bay district on Wednesday.
The case has no known exposure, and is located in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) said.
Two cases were also listed as resolved.
As of Wednesday morning, there were 24 active, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the TBDHU region.

THUNDER BAY Vaccination rates are back on track in the District of Thunder Bay, after a two-week dip to allow vaccines to be diverted to southern Ontario hot spots.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Tuesday announced it gave out a total of 9,001 vaccines for the week ending on May 15, 7,156 of them as first doses.
As of Saturday, 74,143 residents have received at least one dose, representing 54 per cent of the 16-and-older population in the district and 45.6 per cent of the overall population.

THUNDER BAY The number of active COVID-19 cases in the District of Thunder Bay has fallen below 30, matching the caseload s lowest point since November 14.
The current figure of 29 was also reached on May 11, 2021.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Monday reported three new COVID-19 cases, and the resolution of six previous cases.
Among the new cases, two are the result of close contact with infected individuals, while the other has no known exposure source.
Two cases are in the immediate Thunder Bay area, and the third is in a First Nation community.
