WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, wrote to Secretary of Defense Austin Wednesday ahead of his trip to India. In his letter, Chairman Menendez asked the secretary to specifically raise democracy and human rights concerns in his discussions with the Indian government as well reaffirm the Biden administration’s opposition to India’s reportedly planned purchase of the Russian S-400 missile defense system.
