Three Carbondale Police Officers were honored on Monday for quick thinking that probably saved the life of a gunshot victim. On April 11, Sergeant Tim Lomax and two fellow officers responded to reports of a large party on Cherry street, just before 3:00AM and discovered a gunshot victim. Since there were no available ambulances at the time, the officers used a civilian s truck and kept the victim alive while they drove to the hospital. Lomax says it s an example of why he became a police officer. You know, we re here to help people. That s why I got started in, at the very beginning I was to make sure people are safe.
