The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office has been fortunate to have a K-9 program and have recognized Rage has been an invaluable tool in the investigation and apprehension of suspects involved in the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics. However, Rage has retired due to the unfortunate shooting of her handler last fall and the onset of hip problems. Now that Rage is enjoying life on the farm with her former handler, the Sheriff’s Office is working to raise money for a replacement with not one, but two dual-purpose K-9 units. These dogs will not only help with the ongoing war against drugs, they will also be used for criminal tracking and apprehension, premise searches, finding lost children or elderly residents, aiding neighboring law enforcement agencies and educating area students.
