Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon, Refugio County Sheriff Raul ‘Pinky’ Gonzalez, and Jackson County Sheriff A.J. Louderback also attended the event. Sheriffs from the Rio Grande Valley were not present at the press conference. Both Hidalgo and Cameron County sheriffs said they were not invited to speak about or if their deputies are being affected by the increase of immigrants. However, the neighboring county sheriffs said the effect in their areas is overwhelming.

Elkton man facing child porn charges after raid

ELKTON — A man is facing 12 child pornography charges after investigators raided his Elkton residence on Monday morning, ending a six-month-long investigation, according to the Maryland State Police. Investigators identified the suspect as 27-year-old William Burroughs, who is charged with six counts each of distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography, police reported. MSP investigators conducted a court-approved search of Burroughs’ residence shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, after developing him as a suspect, and they arrested him there during that raid, police said. FBI Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force agents and Elkton Police Department officers assisted MSP detectives during the court-approved search, police added.

Barricaded man ID d by police Journal Gazette Police on Sunday identified the man they said barricaded himself inside a south-side home April 15. Indiana State Police said Jose Gallegos Cruz, 26, of Fort Wayne was taken to a hospital for evaluation after making suicidal threats during the incident. He was released Tuesday and booked on charges stemming from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation. On April 15, task force personnel attempted to serve a search warrant at a home at 2436 South Wayne Ave., according to police. The homeowner let officers in, but a man retreated to an upstairs bathroom, and officers heard him loading a gun. Officers and the homeowner then left the home and a security perimeter was set up.
