COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Colleton County Sheriffâs Office says one of their detectives has died after contracting COVID-19.
Detective Sargent Edward Marcurella died at 10:21 p.m. Saturday after a short battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia, the CCSO said in a statement.
Marcurella had spent 35 years as a first responder and deputies say his âselflessness, integrity and dedication to serve and protect the community were immeasurable.â
The CCSO says Marcurella was an avid member of the Lowcountry Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children task forces.

SAUGATUCK, MICH. â The Michigan State Police (MSP) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force announced the sentence of Justin Williams, 26, of Saugatuck, on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) and Child Sexually Abusive Material (CSAM).
On Jan. 11, 2021, Williams pleaded guilty to first degree CSC and was sentenced to 18 years 9 months to 50 years. Williams also pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of CSAM and was sentenced to 7 years 11 months to 25 years.
Initiated by the Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit, Williams was found to be in possession of CSAM. Additionally Williams was found manufacturing CSAM.
