Homer Johnson was asleep on the couch in his wife s garage after a day spent picnicking with his family when he was jarred awake by three IMPD officers. They threw him on the ground as they tried to arrest him, and gave him injuries so severe that he now suffers PTSD and struggles at work.
That s what Johnson and his lawyers allege in a lawsuit against the city of Indianapolis, IMPD, unidentified officers and IMPD Chief Randal Taylor that was filed in the federal Southern District of Indiana court on Tuesday.
Jon Little, one of Johnson s lawyers, said the complaint is based on interviews with Johnson and his wife, and a review of Johnson s medical records from the time of the incident, which occurred on or around August 9, 2019, according to the complaint.
