The gunman, identified as 19-year-old Brandon Scott Hole of Indiana, allegedly died by suicide after the shooting on late Thursday night at the FedEx facility in Indianapolis, taking the toll to nine.

Suspect identified in mass shooting at Indy FedEx facility April 16, 2021 at 5:01 AM EDT - Updated April 16 at 4:51 PM Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers received a call around 11 p.m. ET of reports that shots had been fired at the FedEx facility in the 8900 block of Mirabel Road in Indianapolis. At a press conference Friday morning, IMPD officials said that the suspect drove to the facility and began firing in the parking lot shortly after his arrival. The suspect then moved inside the building and shot several more people. The suspect was found dead inside the building after dying by suspected suicide shortly before officers arrived. IMPD Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt identified the suspect as 19-year-old Brandon Scott Hole of Indiana.

Just after 8:00 p.m. IMPD and the Marion County Coroner’s office released the names of those killed. Police said those who died were 32-year-old Matthew R Alexander, 19-year-old Samaria Blackwell, 66-year-old Amarjeet Johal, 64-year-old Jaswinder Kaur, 68-year-old Jaswinder Singh, 48-year-old Amarjit Sekhon, 19-year-old Karli Smith, and 74-year-old John Weisert. In a news release, IMPD says Marion County’s Coroner’s Office will release cause of death once autopsies are completed.
