8 dead in mass shooting at Indy FedEx facility April 16, 2021 at 5:01 AM EDT - Updated April 16 at 8:26 AM Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers received a call around 11 p.m. ET of reports of shots fired at the FedEx facility in the 8900 block of Mirabel Road in Indianapolis. Officers arrived on the scene and encountered the shooter, IMPD Officer Genae Cook said. Eight people at the scene were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds, Cook said. The suspect was also found dead after he died by suicide. At least four people were taken to local hospitals with apparent gunshot wounds, Cook said. One person is in critical condition. At least three other people arrived at local hospitals with other injuries. Two other people were treated at the scene by medical personnel and were released.

Police responding to mass casualty situation at FedEx facility

Apr 16, 2021 According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, law enforcement officials in Indianapolis are working a mass casualty situation, The incident happened at a FedEx facility located at 8951 Mirabel Road in Indianapolis, according to Cook. Police have said multiple people had been taken to hospitals throughout the area.  Police are asking anyone who has family members who work at the FedEx IND hub that cannot be reached to meet at the Holiday Inn at 8555 Stansted Drive.

SHOW TRANSCRIPT At least eight people are dead after a mass shooting in Indianapolis. It happened at a FedEx facility.  Multiple other people were injured. At least four were taken to the hospital. Police say the shooter killed himself. It s the fourth shooting with at least seven deaths in less than a month. Now Indianapolis like Atlanta, Boulder and Rock Hill, South Carolina is asking why this happened there.  It s important to know that emotions are very high here, said Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Genae Cook. There are a lot of people, not just officers, but family members who are still arriving and still learning about this incident. This occurred before many went to bed and some are just now waking up to this. We ask for your continued support for everyone here involved.

Indianapolis police say five people have been hospitalized, including one in critical condition who was expected to survive.  During a press conference, Officer Genae Cook of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department revealed that police arrived at an active shooting scene with employees running from the warehouse.
