Police arrested 26-year-old Carnell Williams as a suspect in a downtown shooting at 30 East Georgia Street.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were in the area when they heard multiple gunshots, according to a news release, and found a shooting victim in critical condition. They were given a description by a witness of the suspect who was later identified as Williams, according to the news release.
A firearm, which police said is believed to have been used by Williams, was found at the scene.
According to IMPD, Williams was arrested and preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license. It was unclear late Sunday what led to the charging decisions.
