PROTEIN-ID project aims to develop a device able to generate identity card of proteins

PROTEIN-ID project aims to develop a device able to generate identity card of proteins A device able to generate proteins identity card: this is the ambitious goal of the PROTEIN ID project, funded by the European Union with about 3 million euro for the next 3 years and coordinated by the IIT-Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italian Institute of Technology). The innovative device will be able to read the fingerprint of proteins, tracing their identity in a short time, through the conjunction of spectroscopic techniques, machine learning and sensors capable of operating at the nanometer level. Applications could be in the field of medical diagnostics, genomics and the identification of biological contaminants, such as the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

I-Seed project for intelligent biodegradable soft robots mimicking plant seeds behaviour

E-Mail IMAGE: The project will develop intelligent seeds able to monitor environmental parameters. It is coordinated by IIT s researcher Barbara Mazzolai, it involves 5 partners in Europe and has been funded. view more  Credit: IIT-Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia Genova (Italy), 3rd March 2021 - How important is technology to understand climate change and protect the environment? I-Seed project will combine bioinspired soft robotics, material science and artificial intelligence to develop new innovative robots mimicking plant seeds behaviour and able to monitor soil and climate parameters, like the presence of pollutants, humidity, CO2 levels, temperature and quality of waters. These innovative intelligent seeds , named I-Seed robots, will be biodegradable, thus respecting the environment.

The DEEPER project: New photonic tools to reveal deep brain alterations causing diseases

E-Mail Genova/Lecce (Italy), 28th January 2021 - Understanding and treating brain disorders, such as Alzheimer s disease, addiction, chronic pain, depression and schizophrenia, entails the comprehension of the alterations that may occur in the deep regions of the gray matter. Thanks to the European-funded project DEEPER, an international research consortium, coordinated by IIT-Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italian Institute of Technology), will develop new photonic technologies to access those regions and reveal the molecular and cellular dysfunctions underlying the origin of the disorder. The new technological tools are developed with the goal to directly treat the diseases in a minimally invasive and highly effective way. DEEPER will transfer the technological results from laboratory to market, with the ambition to have an impact to strengthen Europe s industrial position in the biophotonics market.
