INOX Air Products says oxygen situation in Delhi will ease in a couple of weeks

‘Liquid oxygen makers have been operating their plants at 120 per cent capacity for months’
INOX Air Products Pvt Ltd, the biggest producer of industrial and medical gases in India, has blamed gaps in the supply chain for the shortage of oxygen, particularly in Delhi and said that the situation would ease “in couple of weeks”.
“Making oxygen is easy but what’s really hard is delivering oxygen to patients,” Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Air Products, told a media conference.
Liquid oxygen makers have been operating their plants at 120 per cent capacity for months and production capacity have been raised by 30 per cent in just 30 days, he said adding that “misinformation has been spread” on shortage of the life-saving element.
This development comes amid reports of a medical oxygen crisis in Noida and Greater Noida area. DM Suhas LY on Tuesday (April 20) posted two senior officers round-the-clock at Inox Air Products Pvt Ltd s Greater Noida factory, which manufacturers and supplies medical oxygen.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government announced that all eligible people above 18 years of age will be vaccinated for free from May 1 in government hospitals. The Health Department will make preparations for this.

No reaction was immediately available from the Haryana government. According to an official, Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital at Pusa Road had five hours of oxygen left around 4:30 pm. There are 58 COVID patients, including 10 in ICU, in the hospital. The vendor, as per its representative, is not being allowed by the Haryana government to supply oxygen cylinders and liquid oxygen to Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital, Pusa Road. Supply left is sufficient only for five hours, the official said. He said the Centre needs to intervene as a large number of hospitals are affected due to the stoppage of oxygen supply from Haryana .

As per a few reports, in some Noida hospitals, the patients had to face the oxygen crisis twice in 12 hours due to the surge in demand amid rising COVID-19 infections.
