Actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister were questioned for over two hours today at the Bandra police station in Mumbai in a sedition case that has been filed against them. The Bombay High Court, which has granted them interim protection from arrest, had asked Ms Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel to appear before the Mumbai Police today.

MUMBAI: In the first murder registered in the city on the first day of 2021, a 19-year-old girl was found brutally beaten to death allegedly by her boyfriend and another teenager on the ground floor of a Khar (West) highrise early on Friday. The trio were at a 10th floor terrace party at Bhagwati Heights organised by some youngsters who reside there. Prima facie, police suspect a love triangle gone wrong.
Jhanvi Kukreja, the victim, had been invited to the party along with the two suspects -Shree Jogdhankar (22) and Diya Padankar (19). The two have been detained, but no arrest had been made till late on Friday night. Police were in the process of questioning the 12 others who were at the party.

The police in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district have arrested 14 members of a Muslim man’s family under the new ordinance against unlawful conversions,
The Times of India reported on Wednesday. Mohammad Javed, who is on the run, is accused of kidnapping and unlawfully converting a Hindu woman to Islam.
A first information report was filed at Etah’s Jalesar police station on the basis of a complaint by the woman’s father on December 17. The father, who is a local businessman, allegedly received a letter from Javed’s lawyer in Delhi, informing him about his daughter’s conversion and marriage.
The Mumbai Police cracked down on an early morning party at the Dragonfly Pub in JW Marriott and booked at least 34 persons, including some celebrities, for allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols, an official said.
The raid was carried out around 3am by two Mumbai police stations after a large number of people were found partying without maintaining protocols like wearing masks and observing social distancing.
In an interview with India Today, a senior police officer was quoted as saying that among the persons found on the premises in the raid included Bollywood singer Guru Randhawa, actor Hrithik Roshan’s former wife Susanne Roshan Khan and Indian cricketer Suresh Raina. News reports also claimed another prominent singer reportedly managed to escape via a back door.

A four-year-old girl has been found unconscious in a gunny bag at Vasai in Maharashtra s Palghar district, a police official said on Monday.
After the girl was found on Sunday evening, the police took her for a medical examination which revealed she was sexually assaulted, Valiv police station s inspector Vilas Chowgule said.
One person has been arrested in this connection, another police official said.
Some locals spotted the gunny bag in Fatherwadi locality of Vasai on Sunday and alerted the police.
The Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar police rushed to the spot and found the girl lying unconscious inside the bag, Chowgule said.
