On sweeping fields once blanketed in lush purple, a thin and bedraggled crop of flowers is all farmers in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) saffron-growing region Pampore have to show for this year s harvest.
Dry conditions blamed on climate change have seen yields of the world s most expensive spice halved in the past two decades, threatening the future of a cash crop that has brought wealth to the region for 2,500 years.

AJK President urges UNSC to take notice of Indian attack on UNMOGIP vehicle

MIRPUR (Dunya News) – The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan on Sunday called upon UN Security Council to discuss the incident of the Indian forces attack on United Nations (UN) vehicle carrying two officers of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in AJK.
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said that the UN military observers are present in both Azad and occupied Jammu and Kashmir since 1949 under the authority and powers assigned by the Security Council to monitor the ceasefire at the LoC and submit their reports to the UN Secretary-General.
