NEW DELHI: India has achieved the milestone of conducting 40 crore Covid-19 tests, with the average of more than 18 lakh tests per day in the month of June, the ICMR said on Saturday.
India has tested 40,18,11,892 samples across the country till Friday, it said. The country tested 35 crore Covid-19 samples till June 1, 2021. This has been enabled by rapidly increasing testing infrastructure and capacity across the country. ICMR has been enhancing Covid-19 testing capability across the country by expanding and diversifying testing capacity by leveraging technology and facilitating innovation in affordable diagnostic kits, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said in a statement.
NEW DELHI: The government has invited bids for delivery of Covid-19 vaccines and drugs to remote areas and those with difficult terrains in select locations of the country by drones to ensure last-mile coverage.

On behalf of the ICMR, the HLL Infra Tech Services Limited (Procurement Support Agency) has invited expression of interest (EOI) through the Central Public Procurement Portal from experienced Indian agencies for the delivery of medical supplies (vaccines/drugs) by UAVs.

NEW DELHI: The daily Covid count in India remained below 1 lakh for the seventh day in a row. With 70,421 new cases reported on Monday, the lowest since April 1, the country s total tally has gone up to 29,510,410, according to data updated by the Union health ministry at 9am. Yesterday, the country reported 80,834 new cases, the lowest in 71 days.
Number of new deaths, however, continue to hover above 3,000 mark for the third straight day. The 3,921 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, has brought the total death toll to 37,4305.
Meanwhile, country s active caseload has fallen below 10 lakh mark after over two months, according to the ministry. Presently, there are 9,73,158 active cases in the country.
