Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], April 8 (ANI): BJP leader and Kattakkada constituency candidate PK Krishna Das has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) of unleashing violence across Kerala soon after the Assembly election. The Marxist party has attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in my constituency. They have thrown bombs towards the workers, destroyed campaigning materials and the police did not take any action against them, said the BJP leader.
Similarly, in Malabar region, more violence occurred. The murder of a Muslim League worker is unfortunate. But it was a big hit back to Mullapally Ramachandran, KPCC president who has openly sought the support of CPIM against the BJP, he added.
Mullappally terms murder premeditated
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has denied any involvement in the murder of 22-year-old Mansoor, an Indian Union Muslim League activist, at Koothuparamba on Tuesday.
CPI(M) Kannur district secretary M.V. Jayarajan termed the murder unfortunate. He said the murder was not premeditated and was committed in an area where the CPI(M) had no influence.
Mr. Jayarajan said IUML activists assaulted CPI(M) member C. Damodaran while he was returning with an elderly woman voter. The DYFI Peringalam zonal committee member Othayoth Swarup was also attacked. Both were seriously injured, he said.
He further said that around 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Shanos, a member of the DYFI Peringalam zonal committee, was abducted by IUML workers. Mansoor was killed amid clashes that broke out when CPI(M) activists arrived to take the injured Shanos to hospital.
‘Attack reveals party’s fear of losing power’
Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] of unleashing violence in the State.
He was speaking to mediapersons in Haripad on Wednesday.
Condemning the murder of a Youth League activist at Panoor in Kannur and attack on Congress workers at Kayamkulam and Haripad in Alappuzha and other parts of the State, Mr. Chennithala said the attacks revealed the CPI(M) s fear and frustration of losing power.
“The CPI(M) should shed the path of violence. The murder of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) activist is similar to the assassination of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. The CPI(M) leadership should initiate steps to promote peace,” he said while demanding the government to bring the culprits to book.
