IIT-M pupils who tested positive for coronavirus has risen to 103 on Monday, and there is fear that the number might go up.
All those who have tested positive for covid, including research scholars and staff, have been admitted to the Kings Institute.

Jamun or Black plum, a vital Indian summer fruit associated with many health and medicinal benefits, has now been utilised by scientists at IIT Roorkee for its yet another peculiarity.
Researchers have used this juicy summer fruit to create inexpensive and more efficient solar cells using naturally occurring pigment found in it as an inexpensive photosensitiser for Dye Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSCs) or Gratzel cells.
71 students of IIT-Madras test positive for Covid-19

Madras: Seventy-one students from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras have tested positive for the novel coronavirus from December 1 till Sunday.
According to a statement from IIT Madras, the technical institute has been functioning on limited capacity with only 100 per cent of students in the hostels. As soon as a spurt in symptomatic cases was reported by some students residing in the hostels, the institute consulted the civic authorities and arranged for all students residing in hostels to be tested for coronavirus.
All students have been asked to remain in their hostel rooms while packed food is being supplied to them.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has become a COVID-19 cluster with over 100 people testing positive since 1 December. Students living on campus currently said that the administration on Sunday issued a lockdown till Thursday in light of the recent outbreak.
PTI reported that a total of 104 students have tested positive and quoted Tamil Nadu health secretary J Radhakrishnan as saying that all were doing well .

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras had to temporarily shut down all its departments, centres and library this week after 71 people tested positive for the coronavirus since early this month. The faculty, staff and research scholars have been ordered to work from home.
According to health authorities, 71 covid cases were reported in the last two weeks, of which 66 are students, four mess staff and one from resident quarters. The single-day highest spike was on Sunday with 32 fresh cases and the number is likely to go up in the next couple of days with Tamil Nadu government instructing the institute to test all the students on the campus.
