Appealing to the state governments across the country to not let off their guards against covid-19, the
Indian Medical Association on Monday said the third wave of the pandemic is “inevitable and imminent.”

New Delhi: While COVID-19 restrictions have eased in several parts of India and gatherings have resumed, states in the Northeast are still facing the high positivity rates as the pandemic continues to spread.
According to the
Indian Express, three out of every five districts in the area has reported a COVID-19 test positivity rate higher than 10% over the last week. Union health ministry data shows that of the 58 districts across India that had a positivity rate higher than 10% between July 5 and July 11, 37 districts were in the Northeast. Overall in the country, the positivity rate for this period stood at 2.21%.
