Ex-Deputy Superintendent of Police turns to High Court for justice

CID) had to approach the
High Court for respite after his vehicle was illegally seized by
Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) MN
PSI also arrested and detained
Rathnakar at the police station for nearly five hours despite knowing that the latter was a senior-ranked, retired, police officer.
“If a retired DySP official like me gets treated like this by a PSI like Naik, then imagine the plight of common people,” said Rathnakar.
Movement of heavy vehicles via Mahakalipadpu banned till June 19

The police have banned the movement of heavy vehicles, including buses, between National Highway 66-Mahakalipadpu-Morgan’s Gate with immediate effect till June 19 to facilitate the construction of railway underbridges and connecting road.
Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar, in his capacity as Additional District Magistrate, has issued orders to this effect under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act and Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules. Heavy goods vehicles and buses have to operate via Pumpwell (Bhagavan Mahaveer) Circle, he said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Vinay Gaonkar said that light motor vehicles, however, could use the stretch.

Basavaraj Bommai has said that the Traffic Police are not supposed to ask for vehicle documents after they stop the vehicles in the middle of the road.
He was answering JD(S) MLC H.M. Ramesh Gowda’s query during ‘Question Hour’ in the Legislative Council yesterday.
“It has come to my notice that the Traffic Police are stopping the vehicles in the middle of the road in instances of the traffic rules violation. Police should take precautionary measures to avoid accidents and other untoward incidents while stopping vehicles. Policies should be followed in such situations. In this regard, suitable directions have been given to the Department,” he said.
