Once completed, the dam would meet the potable water needs in the Afghan capital city. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was done through video conferencing between Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Afghani counterpart Hanif Atmar, in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. The project is a part of the new development partnership between India and Afghanistan.
