Trade unions forum gives call to observe Black Day on May 26

A joint forum of ten central trade unions on Thursday gave a call to observe Black Day for Indian Democracy on May 26 by weaning black badges and putting up black flags to press the government for their demands on May 26.
Their demands include free vaccination for all, free ration and Rs 7,500 per month for the poor, repealing three farm laws and minimum support price for crops and withdrawal of four labour codes passed by Parliament last year. These codes are not implemented so far because rules under those are yet to be notified.

NEW DELHI, Apr 28: A joint platform of 10 central trade unions on Wednesday decided to press the government for free universal vaccination, Rs 7,500 per month cash transfer for poor families and free 10 kg ration for them, among others, during the pandemic.
The unions will also protest against the “anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-people policies” of the government on May Day (Saturday), stated a statement by the joint platform.
The joint platform has written a letter to the Prime Minister regarding their demands.
The trade unions deplore the “callous attitude” of the government in handling the COVID-19 crisis, the statement said.

Chennai, April 4 : The CPI-ML candidate S. Subramani from the Kumarapalyalm Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu campaigns during the day time and at night turns a weaver for his living and to fund his own election campaign.
Subramani after his day s campaign enters a weaving unit in the night shift and earns Rs 500 per day. This money is used for his living as well as campaign expenses for the next day.
The CPI-ML candidate is of the opinion that the AIADMK government at the state and the BJP government at the centre has not done anything for the weavers and workers. He is also the Namakkal district secretary of the All India Central Council of Trade Unions and he wants the government to provide free homes to people in the handloom, construction and other unorganized sectors.
