Their demands include free vaccination for all, free ration and Rs 7,500 per month for the poor, repealing three farm laws and minimum support price for crops and withdrawal of four labour codes passed by Parliament last year. These codes are not implemented so far because rules under those are yet to be notified.

The unions will also protest against the “anti-worker, anti-farmer, anti-people policies” of the government on May Day (Saturday), stated a statement by the joint platform. The joint platform has written a letter to the Prime Minister regarding their demands. The trade unions deplore the “callous attitude” of the government in handling the COVID-19 crisis, the statement said.
