ISDH: 125 more deaths from COVID-19; 7-day positivity rate at 24 5%

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) The Indiana State Department of Health has issued new COVID-19 information for our state. ISDH says 6,283 more Hoosiers have tested positive with COVID-19. Those tests were conducted between Nov. 11 and Dec. 15. Of those, 6,273 were conducted on Tuesday. A total of 440,850 Hoosiers have tested positive with the virus. ISDH says 125 more Hoosiers have died from COVID-19. The newly-recorded deaths occurred between Nov. 18 and Dec. 15. A total of 6,781 Hoosiers have died from the virus. Another 320 “probable” deaths have occurred, but a positive test is not on record.

First doses of COVID-19 vaccine in Indiana administered in Fort Wayne

(WISH) Some of the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in Indiana were administered Monday to frontline health care workers in Fort Wayne, the Indiana State Department of Health said. Those first doses went to a physician, a nurse, a respiratory therapist, a pharmacist, a patient care technician and an environmental services technician just after noon at Parkview Health. Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville also received initial doses of the vaccine on Monday. Three additional hospitals including IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis are among the five locations slated to get vaccine doses first in the state.

Frontline workers around Indiana line up for first vaccine doses

Dec 14, 2020 / 10:44 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) There are close to 400,000 health care workers in Indiana. The state is expected to receive 350,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the next 16 days. This week, five primary hospitals, including IU Health Methodist Hospital, and 50 additional hospitals and clinics are expected to receive a few thousand doses that will be given first to frontline staff who work directly with COVID-19 patients. The very first batches of vaccine arrived in Indiana on Monday morning and were administered just after noon in Fort Wayne to health care workers. Dr. Ram Yeleti of Community Health Network told I-Team 8 that some of the first people to receive the vaccination are health care workers and those in long-term health care facilities.
