Letter: Legislature failed on SB 383 Evansville Courier & Press View Comments It has come to my attention that the Indiana Senate has passed bill S.B. 383 without including the unemployment provision of the $10,200 tax shield/refund that was granted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax year 2020. This is, I believe, an error in judgment on the part of the Indiana Legislature because the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 provides relief in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each state and the District of Columbia will receive $500 million from a fund with the remaining funds divided according to each state’s and the District of Columbia’s share of unemployed workers during the last three months of 2020. The state of Indiana is expected to receive $3 billion dollars as their share of the money.
