The state Primary Election is tomorrow, and the Indiana Area School District has issued a statement clarifying that an email sent by a group of candidates for school board is
not an official statement by the current board.
The statement says the district has received multiple inquiries about a potential data breach of parent email information. It says the email was “designed to appear that it was sent by the current Board of Directors or the District Administration.”
The administration says it did not release any email information to any individual or group running for school board, including parent contact information. It also says such a release was not approved and district employees with access to the data are trained to know the seriousness of the unauthorized release of information. IASD SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCES DETAILS ON END-OF-YEAR ACTIVITIES By Hometown2
The Indiana Area School District has announced how the end-of-the-school-year activities will go.
In a letter posted to the district’s website, District Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that the district is aware of the upcoming suspension of Covid-19 mandates on May 31st. He said when those orders change, the district will modify its health and safety plan to bring it in line with those protocols.
Indiana High School prom will be held May 28
th for seniors and their guests. The prom was limited to seniors and guests only to comply with event gathering limitations that are in place in Pennsylvania, and a health and safety plan has been put in place by prom organizers.

In an effort to increase the number of people in Indiana County vaccinated against Covid-19, Indiana Regional Medical Center is teaming up with the Indiana Area School District to make the vaccine available to any student in the district 16 years of age or older.
In a letter on the district website, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that parents of eligible students need to complete a Covid-19 vaccine consent form and submit it at the first clinic on May 10
th at the KCAC. Students would also need to bring their photo ID and their insurance card as well. Parents are also asked to take part in an online survey embedded in the letter on the district’s website, www.iasd.cc.

ROYERSFORD â With little warning, and no mention on the agenda, the Spring-Ford School Board voted 8-1 Monday night to halt its search for a new superintendent and negotiate a contract with the man doing the job right now.
The motion was made in the middle of the solicitor s report by school board member Tom DiBello, who said Acting Superintendent Robert Rizzo has done an outstanding job in difficult circumstances.

School Board President Colleen Zasowski immediately agreed and seconded the motion which, as it turns out, is required by law not to hire Rizzo, but to direct the solicitor to draw up a contract for a board vote.
