MCCONNELL TO JOIN WOMEN’S NATIONAL U16 COACHING STAFF By Hometown4 From IUP Athletics: INDIANA, Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) head women’s basketball coach  Tom McConnell has been added to the staff of the 2021 USA Women’s U16 National Team as an assistant coach. Coach McConnell joins a staff that includes newly named head coach Sue Phillips (Archbishop Mitty/San Jose Cagers) and assistant coach Sophia Witherspoon (Fort Pierce Central H.S., Fla.).  “The committee has selected an experienced coach with Sue, and Tom brings his own successes,” said Carol Callan, chair of the USA Basketball Women’s Developmental National Team committee, which is responsible for selecting the USA coaches and athletes, and the USA Basketball Women’s National Team Director. “We are confident they and Sophia not only will work well together, they also will be able to inspire this group of young athletes during trials, tra

MARILYN WEBER, 85 May 17, 2021 | 2:15 PM Marilyn “Lyn” Patricia Fyfe Weber, 85, of Indiana, PA, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.  She was a long-time resident of Indiana, PA, having lived in Raleigh, NC for some years before returning to Indiana. Lyn was a devout Presbyterian of strong faith.  She grew up in Maywood, New Jersey, where she graduated from Hackensack High School in 1953 and Fairleigh Dickinson University with an Associate’s Degree in 1956. As a youth, one of her proudest accomplishments was winning a brand new typewriter in a local typing contest.  She could accurately type more than 100 words per minute.  She used that typewriter to type her husband Charlie’s doctoral dissertation and later the homework reports of her children.  It was Lyn’s typing talents that helped her land a job as a legal secretary for attorney Theodore W. Trautwein in Hakensack, NJ, before moving to Indiana.
