In a first for the world of palaeontology, a team of scientists have announced the discovery of a fossilized dinosaur nest, replete with eight eggs beneath the skeleton of the brooding adult.
The nest was discovered in Jiangxi Province in southern China, researchers wrote in their paper, which was recently published in the journal
Science Bulletin. It holds the incomplete skeleton of a large, assumedly adult oviraptorid a bird-like dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago crouched over at least 24 eggs.
