SALT LAKE CITY Two of Utah s leading elections officials provided insight into the state s vote-by-mail system to legislators in Pennsylvania who are reviewing vote-by-mail ballots following criticism during the 2020 election. Justin Lee, Utah s director of elections, and Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen each provided written testimony about Utah s election process ahead of a Pennsylvania Senate special committee hearing on election integrity and reform. Vote by mail has worked well for us in Utah, Lee wrote in his statement, which he read off during the hearing. Both also answered questions from Pennsylvania lawmakers about how Utah has managed an election system that s allowed residents statewide to participate in elections without having to find a voting location. During the session Monday, they touted the system s ability to increase participation while election officials could also catch any potential voter fraud.

Govt moves to implement Tk 5,883.74cr digital connectivity project 212 DHAKA, March 15, 2021 (BSS) – The government has initiated a big move to establish broadband internet connectivity all divisions across the country to reach the government services easily and speedily to the people. The Department of Information and Communication Technology under the ICT Division has already framed a draft project to this end titled “Establishing Digital Connectivity” involving an overall estimated cost of Taka 5,883.74 crore. Of the total project cost, Taka 2,505.16 crore will come from the government of Bangladesh while the rest of Taka 3,378.57 crore as project assistance from China, said a senior Planning Commission official.

Laos govt launches new civil registration, vital statistics systems

VIENTIANE, March 14 (Vientiane Times/ANN): The government has launched e-civil registration and vital statistics (eCRVS) systems and District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2) to ensure more accurate population registration. The systems will be shared and operated by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Home Affairs, which signed agreements on their use in Vientiane on Wednesday. Representing the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Deputy Director General of the Citizen Management Department, Mr Vandy Chanthalideth, signed the agreement with the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health’s Planning and Cooperation Department, Dr Soutthanou Nanthanontry. The signing was witnessed by the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Thongchanh Manixay, and Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Bounfeng Phoummalaisith.
