Two arrested after man stabbed at Lord Street, St Helens

Two arrested after man stabbed in leg TWO people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the leg. Police cordons are currently in place after officers received a report at around 5pm that a man had been assaulted at an address on Lord Street, St Helens. Emergency services attended and found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg. He was taken to hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. A 42-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from St Helens, have been arrested on suspicion on section 18 wounding. Officers remain at the scene while forensic enquiries are carried out.

Update as man arrested after burglary on Rookery Lane, Rainford

The break-in happened on Tuesday, April 6 in Rainford, police say. At around 4pm, a man had returned to his home on Rookery Lane to find that entry had been forced and a number of items stolen, including bikes, watches and jewellery. At 6.45pm, police officers spotted a suspected stolen Ford Fiesta on Pennywood Drive, Whiston, believed to have been involved in the burglary. The driver attempted to evade officers near to Whiston Station and a man left on foot and was pursued and detained nearby. A 35-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary; disqualified driving; and driving without insurance.
