Police are appealing for witnesses A MAN was stabbed while walking through St Helens town centre in the early hours of Saturday. Police say that at around 3.40am on Saturday, May 22 they were called to a property on Waterloo Street, St Helens where officers found a man with a puncture wound to his back and lacerations to his hands. It is believed that the 22-year-old man had been walking through the town centre a short time earlier when he was assaulted. He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out in the local area, police said.

Floral tributes were left at the front door of the home where a 36-year-old man was murdered by a gang of intruders in front of his dad.
The 36-year-old was attacked, left with a head injury and was then throttled or smothered during the assault which lasted a short period of time.
Floral tributes have started to be placed outside the home by friends and family, while the property remains sealed off for a third day as forensic experts comb the scene for clues.

Thugs knocked on a front door late at night and barged their way into a house before murdering a 36-year-old man in front of his dad. The attackers burst in and cornered Thomas Edmunds, who is said to have been upstairs in the house when he was viciously assaulted.
Part of the horrifying incident was witnessed by the victim s dad, who lives at the property with his son.
