Suspected cannabis estimated to be worth £50,000 has been seized by police officers following the targeted stop of a van at the services in South Mimms. Officers from the Hertsmere Operation Scorpion, a team that targets burglars, robbers and those involved in drug and vehicle-related crime, stopped the vehicle in Bignells Corner on Friday May 7. The vehicle and driver were searched and several bags of suspected cannabis were found, officers also seized equipment suspected to be used in the cultivation of cannabis. It is estimated the suspected Class B drug haul would have potential street value of more than £50,000. The stop took place following intelligence received by the force that the van had been involved in fly-tipping.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs after officers executed a warrant in Potters Bar.
A samurai sword, knives and cannabis were found in a police search. Two men were arrested during the warrant execution in a property at The Hollies, Potters Bar, last week Thursday (April 22). Officers swept the place and seized cannabis, a large quantity of cash and knives, and a samurai sword. A man, 21, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug and possessing an offensive weapon. Another man, 18, was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with the intent to supply, and possessing a weapon. Both have been released on police bail while enquires continue. Detective Inspector Baz Kaila from Hertsmere Local Crime Unit said: “This warrant was carried out following intelligence about suspected criminal activity taking place from the property.
