Image Source: IANS News Shimla, May 4 : Hearing a petition on illegal felling of trees within the municipal jurisdictions of the state capital, the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday stayed all permissions of felling or lopping of trees, except the permissions granted to the state Electricity Department. A division bench of Chief Justice L. Narayana Swamy and Justice Anoop Chitkara passed the order on a petition treating it as public interest litigation. The petitioner highlighted the issue of illegal felling of green trees by violating provisions of the Forest Conservation Act and the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act and also violating directions passed by various courts.

A doctor can’t shirk COVID-19 duty: Himachal HC By IANS|   Posted by Neha  |   Updated: 3rd May 2021 9:24 pm IST Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday reminded a government doctor, who had challenged the order of his deputation to a makeshift COVID-19 hospital, that in the garb of self-unwillingness to serve, he cannot be permitted to shirk his responsibilities. “This tendency has to be dealt and curbed with an iron fist,” ruled a division bench comprising Justices Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Chander Bhusan Barowalia, while dismissing a petition filed by Vishal Koundal, who was shifted to a makeshift COVID-19 hospital in Una from Kangra.
