Nitin Gadkari inaugurates National Highway projects in Himachal Pradesh

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various National Highway projects in Himachal Pradesh. The total outlay of the 222-kilometre-long nine road corridors is Rs 6,155 crore. Addressing the event, Gadkari said that these road projects will ensure prosperity for the people of Himachal Pradesh. The Minister promised that road travel time from Delhi to Kullu will be reduced to just seven hours within two years or even before. Gadkari said that work related to the construction of 11 more tunnels will soon be awarded in Himachal Pradesh. The Minister said that the Government has accorded top priority to Manali-Leh tunnel construction.

Earth Sciences Minister Harsh Vardhan at the 146th India Meteorological Department foundation day. New Delhi: Earth Sciences Minister Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the doppler weather radars in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh today that will improve forecasts in the hilly states and also for Char Dham and Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimages. Mr Vardhan also inaugurated the multi-mission meteorological data receiving and processing system that has been established in the IMD in collaboration with the ISRO. The system will be utilised for monitoring and forecasting of severe weather events for defence services, disaster management, power sector, aviation, railway, tourism and agro-meteorological advisory services by generating specific satellite-based products imageries.
