SALISBURY, Md. (WJZ) Family, friends and hundreds of law enforcement officers from Maryland, Delaware and beyond gathered Monday morning to pay their final respects to slain Delmar Police Cpl. Keith Heacook.

Gov. Larry Hogan spoke at the Heacook’s funeral and remembered his 22 years of service.
“John Chapter 15, Verse 13 says, ‘greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends, ” Hogan said. “Two states are grieving the loss of one of our true heroes.”

The community is rallying around the family of late Delmar Police Department Cpl. Keith Heacook with multiple events.
Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Kylan Barn in Delmar, volunteers will apply a blue line to back windshields in tribute to Heacook. It s free but donations will be accepted, which will go to the Heacook family.
A limited amount of stickers featuring Heacook s badge number will be available, as well. Tents will be set up in case of rain. Food from Mission Barbecue will be available and DJ Kopec will play live.
The event is being hosted by The Blue Line Network, a nonprofit that provides support and resources to first responders and their families.

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police have announced funeral details for fallen Delmar Police Corporal Keith Heacook.
Services are scheduled for Monday, May 10th, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury. The public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with services beginning around 12:20 p.m. The service is expected to last roughly one hour. Attendees are asked to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
The church will provide a live stream of the event on Youtube, as well as Cpl. Heacook’s tribute page. Viewing of the service will also be broadcast on a digital billboard vehicle outside the church.

Country music artist and Cape Henlopen High School graduate Jimmie Allen has announced he will play an acoustic show Monday, May 10, to benefit the family of fallen Delmar Police Cpl. Keith Heacook.
The show at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.
“That’s a terrible situation. I’m definitely keeping his family and friends in my prayers,” Allen said in a short video posted to Facebook May 4. “I wish it was a better situation, but we’re going to do what we can to raise money for Officer Heacook’s family.”
