Brainerd street, parks employees earn 2021-22 hourly wage increases

In other business Monday, the council: Accepted fourth quarter donations to the fire department: $8,308 from Brainerd Fire Relief Association for an insulation vacuum; $5,000 from Brainerd Fire Relief Association for an insulation vacuum trailer; $3,000 from Compeer Financial for personal protective equipment hoods; and $500 from Mid Minnesota Mutual Insurance for equipment. The following groups gave donations for public fire safety education: ATEK, $300; Thelen Heating & Roofing, $300; People’s Security Co., $200; Anderson Brothers Construction Co., $200; Brainerd Games, $100; and Auto Import, $75. Authorized the fire department to donate old self-contained breathing apparatuses to the Ironton Fire Department. Brainerd firefighters recently upgraded their equipment, and the old equipment while out of date is still better than what Ironton is currently using, Fire Chief Tim Holmes said, adding there was no trade-in value for the equipment at the time of upgrade.

Worcester-Fitchburg Building Trades Council elects Jorge Rivera as new president Jorge Rivera has been elected president of the Worcester-Fitchburg Building Trades Council, the group announced Monday. Rivera, a 20-year union member and painter, trained apprentices across the region, teaching bilingual classes on OSHA safety, first aid, and CPR. He concurrently serves as the director of organizing for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades DC 35 in Boston.   It s a privilege to represent the Worcester-Fitchburg Building Trades Council as president,  Rivera said.  I’m proud to come together with my sisters and brothers to fight for a better way of life for working people. Together, we can continue to advocate on key issues like wage theft, stand up for community standards, and create partnerships for a brighter future across our region.

Sussex County Board of Commissioners vacant seat filled New Jersey Herald SUSSEX COUNTY Frankford Township Committeeman Chris Carney was selected to fill the vacant Sussex County Board of Commissioners seat by the county s Republican Committee. Carney fills the seat left vacant by Josh Hertzberg, who resigned late last year after he was elected to the Sparta Township Council. Carney, 43, resigned his Frankford position Monday and will attend his first meeting as county commissioner on Feb. 10. I m not sure whether I will be sworn in before that meeting, he said Monday afternoon, but noted he is already getting information forwarded to him from the commissioners office.
