Those who don’t have online means can call the booking hotline 226-773-2200 although multiple attempts may be needed due to high call volumes. Hotline hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the weekend.
Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health, estimated that the expansion of criteria means roughly 20,000 to 30,000 more people in the region are now able to receive the vaccine at the region’s six targeted clinic sites.
The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has expanded COVID-19 vaccination booking to those 18 years of age or older living in “hot spot” postal code areas.
Previously the Health Unit’s mass vaccination clinics were only available to those aged 40 and older in hot spot areas, and are available to those aged 50 and older in non-hot spot postal code areas.
The Health Unit’s booking website was updated Monday morning to accept booking from those meeting the new criteria. It comes after the province announced Sunday that booking would be available due to an increase in provincial vaccine supply.
