Regulators Urge Actuaries To Watch Climate, Pandemic Risks
Law360, London (July 28, 2021, 12:44 PM BST) A group of finance regulators in Britain has warned the actuarial sector that it must focus on perfecting risk assessments for climate change, long COVID-19 and the possibility that another pandemic will erupt in the coming years.
The Joint Forum on Actuarial Regulation said on Tuesday that global warming is the defining risk of our time. The forum is made up of the Financial Reporting Council, the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Financial Conduct Authority, The Pensions Regulator and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
It also identified the lasting effects of long COVID-19 and systemic risks such as another deadly virus.
