LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - The Laurel Police Department held a food drive on Friday benefiting The Salvation Army of Laurel.
The event was held in front of Walmart on MS Highway 15, giving the public an opportunity to donate non-perishable food items to help feed the less fortunate members in the community.
Major Raymond Pruitt, from The Salvation Army of Laurel, said the donations will go a long way in their mission of serving others.

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - After Thursday, you won’t see any more Salvation Army bell ringers. The organizations’ Red Kettle campaign ends on Christmas Eve.
Captain Brian Hicks of The Salvation Army of Hattiesburg says he’s grateful for community support so far and still hopes the Salvation Army in Hattiesburg can meet its campaign goal.
“We started this year in the middle of the pandemic, of course, and I went for that $115,000 just with faith knowing that God’s going to provide and the community will provide,” Hicks said. “And here we are, I’m standing here today saying we’re $8,200 away.”

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - The Salvation Army of Laurel is asking for the public’s help in reaching its goal for the Red Kettle Campaign this year.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been fewer red kettles and bell-ringers outside of stores this Christmas season. The Salvation Army has turned to online giving to make up for it.
The Salvation Army of Laurel set a goal of raising $90,000 this season. So far, $69,617 has been raised.
