Salvation Army distributes clothing, warning ahead of brutal cold snap

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The Salvation Army in Corpus Christi has been collecting donations of warm clothing all week in anticipation of dangerously cold weather this weekend.
On Thursday, they drove their disaster relief vehicle better known as The Canteen to various locations across the city to distribute the coats, blankets, caps, and mittens to the homeless population.
Salvation Army leaders say they were motivated to act by this weekend s forecast.
âIt is concerning, because many times homeless individuals â they prefer to stay out in the cold, Salvation Army Community Relations Director Monica Barrera said.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas The Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend will help the homeless prepare for this weekend’s cold weather temperatures by providing coats and blankets.
The Salvation Army’s mobile feeding unit will be at various locations starting at 11:30 a.m. this Thursday. Distribution will begin at Mother Theresa shelter at 513 Sam Rankin Street.
The Salvation Army representatives and outreach team will provide coats, blankets, hygiene kits, winter accessories, water, and warm meals to the homeless. The Salvation Army s purpose is to also encourage individuals to get away from the cold and to educate them about the programs that are available at The Salvation Army.
