Nadya Korytnikova  February 04, 2021 08:43AM By Nadya Korytnikova, Record-Journal staff Berlin Public Schools received $641,868 from the latest wave of federal relief funding.  Schools across the state were awarded a total of $492.4 million under the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds. Over $24 million went to New Britain, Berlin, and Farmington schools. The funding is designed to allow districts to reduce educational disparities among students that have been further exacerbated from the pandemic, and incorporate additional classroom support, including tutoring and summer school programs.

July 25, 2016.Ned Gerard / Hearst Connecticut Media STRATFORD The town’s public schools are in line for $4.3 million in federal funds for coronavirus relief but the money must be used for expenses related to COVID-19 and cannot be used to plug holes in the budget. School officials told Board of Education members during a budget hearing Wednesday about the grant and that they don’t yet know what they will be spending it on. “We will be working to do a needs assessment and to determine what our plan is,” Superintendent Janet Robinson said. “Expect a very detailed plan on how this is going to be used.”
